Fortify Health Sample of Before and After Copy Editing
Don Shapiro was an outside advisor and copy editor for Sara Al-Asmakh from Qatar, a Doctoral Researcher (PhD. candidate) in accounting at Brunel University in London. He did editing and rewriting on her 70,000 word Thesis and three research papers that have now been published in highly rated academic journals. She received her PhD. in July, 2024. Of all the varied types of copy editing Don has done during his career, this was the most difficult due to the technical requirements of publishing academic research papers.
Below is her original draft and the final proof copy of a research paper that was published in the Journal of Accounting Literature. For comparison purposes, it is recommended to look primarily at the Abstract, Introduction and Conclusion because these are easier to read and shorter and possibly the Literature Review section. The Research Design and Empirical Results sections involve a significant amount of statistical analysis.
