Leadership is about voluntary influence
Through decades of experience in leadership development and leadership roles, Don Shapiro discovered the key to effective leadership. It’s all about voluntary influence. How well can we influence people to voluntarily join with us.
In high school, Don conducted leadership workshops for the student body presidents of the 50 Los Angeles high schools. While he couldn’t get elected after trying three times, the principal of Hollywood High saw something in him and created opportunities where he could develop as a leader and learn how to develop others. Don’s senior graduating class saw it differently and voted him class optimist!
Out of college, Don joined a management training program with Lawry’s Restaurants and Foods famous for Lawry’s The Prime Rib. Their 94 years of success at delivering extraordinary service and quality is due to their focus on leadership and a culture that engaged their employees. Some truly great leaders at Lawry’s mentored Don on his way to becoming a general manager. They changed his life!
Don Shapiro is a co-author of The Character-Based Leader. He takes audiences on an inspiring, fun and revealing journey into what makes one a great leader and how to become one of those leaders. While skills can make you a better leader, skills can’t turn you into a leader.
A journey into what makes us a great leader
Your group will take a fascinating journey deep into the “why” behind effective leadership. People join with us when they trust us. Leadership is about building trust. Trust grows out of who you are… your purpose, attitude and character.
Your people will be inspired to become great leaders… the type of leaders who produce the best results, retain their employees, and engage those they lead so they work together as a team to achieve your firm’s vision and mission.
Leaders build trust so people voluntarily join with them
Leadership is about voluntary influence. When we build trust, we can influence people to voluntarily join with us to take action. You don’t need a title or authority to lead and having a title won’t make you a leader. When we lead through our character, we serve our people with humility.
Don’s high energy, fun and interactive program explores what trust is, why people do and don’t trust, and how to build trust. He helps his audiences understand the type of leadership character that builds trust and how to develop that character.
This program takes audiences beyond most of what they’ve ever heard or read about leadership and gives them the keys to unlock their potential as a leader.
